The unreadable pictures seem to be connected to the NVIDIA driver, with nv driver that problem doesn't occur anymore. Whats still a problem is that the images are not shown sometimes in the main view when going trough a number of them with the next button. I have found that this only happens when

Are you still able to reproduce this bug? I had it before, though not using NVIDIA card. Now it seems to have been fixed. Why don't you try the nvidia driver again and see if the bug persists? -- Unreliable display of pictures in main window when using Previous/Next-button

The NVIDIA driver produced a number of other problems here, e. g. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=174405 so I changed to nv. However there was an update of the NVIDIA driver recently and I might try it again. -- Unreliable display of pictures in main window when using Previous/Next-button
