I just found out that there are already a few entries about this bug, e.g. bug
288039.
There is also the solution (at least for me):
alsamixer -Dhw in a terminal and then set PCM from zero to something else

I think those two issues have something to do with each other, because
they were intruduced with the same update iirc.

I suggest a new bug report.
Bug 274995 is narrowing to an issue commonly seen during shutdown where
2-3 minute delays also sometimes occur. The crackling quality is
usually not a symptom. Any
