Okay... I *think* that, at least in my case, the error seems related to
bug #272410 (an error from PackageKit). I don't know if this is the case
for the original poster though.

notification area in the taskbar just before I
I wasn't sure if any of my old local configuration settings from Hardy
were causing a problem, so I created a new user (with an empty home
directory), and logged in with the new user account. A few minutes after
logging in I see the same error, for this new user as well.

how do you start your session? did you do some configuration change on
this installation? the issue doesn't seem to be a nautilus one but a
system configuration issue

I get this same error on Intrepid every time I log into Gnome (with no
other input from me).
This was after a fresh install of Intrepid on my system. I did, however,
copy over my home directory from my old Hardy system... so all of my
