** Description changed:
After installing Kubuntu 8.10 my T22 laptop fails to boot while on
battery. It will pass the Kubuntu splash screen however afterwords it
will only show a black screen. The laptop will boot just fine if
plugged in and has full batter power and if I unplug it
Unfortunately I have reinstalled 8.04 about a week or two ago since this
laptop was going to be used by someone that knows next to nothing about
using computers, so I needed something I knew would work. As a result,
I can not perform further tests.

[This is an automated message]
Hi blzut3,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log
file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to
your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

To add to the report. When the problem occurs apparently the computer
completely freezes (I thought hitting the power button made it shutdown,
but it seems I did hold it down for 5 seconds). I also did not see the
problem happen while booting into xfce, but I'm going to confirm this
and report

Xfce vs KDE does not make a difference so my second guess is the battery
level needs to be about 90% for it to fail. I think I was able to get
it to boot while it was failing by going into failsafe, dropping to
root, executing shutdown now, and then canceling when the menu came up
but I can not
