Eddie Hung: Your'e right. I fixed the resuspending issue by setting
/apps/gnome-power-manager/actions/critical_battery to value nothing.
But I still have the original problem.
It seems in my case the problem is caused when the battery level is
*not* critical, but goes critical during suspend
For the record: For me the problem is gone in Karmic.

molecule-eye: I think re-suspending after resume is a separate issue
I am starting to see this again on Lucid 2.6.32-9 too, on the same system.
Prior to upgrading from latest Karmic a few weeks ago, this problem appeared to
have been fixed.

automatic resume after suspend
I never had this problem with a fresh install of 32-bit Karmic but after
some updates (including kernel ones) I now have the issue on my Gateway
NX100X laptop. If I have critically low battery power with the laptop
plugged in and I suspend it, then unplug it from the wall, it will
resume from
I'm seeing this in the latest Karmic update using 2.6.31-rc5, on an
Intel DG45FC mobo. It used to work a few weeks ago (around when
2.6.31-rc3 was latest, but I tried booting that and it seems to suffer
this problem too so may not be the kernel). It happens consistently at
around ~10 minutes of

As the reporter of bug 300112, now marked as a duplicate of this bug,
I'll attach a bunch of files with data on my system (it was my intention
to do it back when I reported that bug, it seems I forgot).

Ok, here I am.
Now I'm sure it's a kernel bug. Now I'm using the Hardy kernel (Linux
meleeisland 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux) and suspend is working both on ram and disk.
Just let me reboot to attach what you need
