Take a look at line 55 (in your file lines 55 and 56 have been merged)
Backup and replace the existing /etc/apt/sources.list with the one attached and
run the command
apt-get update
I've tried it and the error disappear.
Sorry for my late reply. With the corrected sources.list could you please run
the following commands:
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
and provide the output if it fails. Thanks.

Your sharp eyes did indeed find a bad entry in the sources.list file.
I corrected the entry to read as you suggested. I then tried the update
which failed with the same message as above.
I've attached the sources.list file. All I have changed is what you
noted above.
