This bug is now fixed. Since I got several new packages at once I'm not
exactly sure what fixed the bug.

to start in anything but VESA. Anything else I can do to provide better

Hmm, the Xorg.0.log shows no error, and the :0.log is from the failsafe session.
Are you able to reproduce this error? If so, please reproduce it and then
attach your Xorg.0.log[.old] and all of your /var/log/:0.log* files. We're
looking for an error message or backtrace, which should be at the

I can add that xorg crashes (and switches to failsafe) even before the
GDM login screen comes up.
