I have a similar problem with IPP printing that requires authentication, and I think it's the same bug (or related at least). I set up the printer (IPP) and the first time I printed I was prompted for a password, but it worked. After this, however, I got the authentication error described

I realize I've missed something here: you said your printer does not require any authentication. So there's also a bug in the CUPS printing system, which sets up the printer the wrong way. From the blog post quoted above, the problem is that the second line should not be present, and removing it
