D2568 HP Deskjet printer driver not found

You received this bug
Mr Jonathan Harker,
Are you sure your printer is still working in another OS? Did you try different
USB cable to make sure it is not broken?
Please run the following command in a terminal to add some useful printing
related debugging information to this bug:
apport-collect -p cups 305171
**
Well spotted sir - In my case it was the cable. Can't believe I
overlooked it. It was working in Windows a few weeks ago, but it was on
another PC with a different cable. Sorry to waste time...

It now works perfectly - auto installs like magic. Not even Windows does
that :-D

I am having the same problem with a new HP Deskjet D2560. plugged in and
switched on. Using Jaunty, with hpijs/hplip/hplip-gui 3.9.2-3ubuntu4
installed. Plugged into USB, switched on:
HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.9.2)
Device Information Utility ver. 5.2
error: No devices
tail -f /var/log/messages reports nothing at all when plugging in the
printer, on both machines.

The support for the DeskJet D2500 series was introduced in HPLIP 2.8.5:
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-
web/models/deskjet/deskjet_d2500_series.html
In terms of Ubuntu releases this means you need at least Intrepid
(Ubuntu 8.10, HPLIP 2.8.7) for explicit support. But as this printer is
similar
i have found drivers supported upto d2560... and mine is d2568will
it still work
