Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-177
GNU/Linux should be modular operating system, and that means that you don't need to restart your PC if you install some new driver, you can just load the new module, or in Nvidia restricted driver case, you just need to restart X. That was OK before, but now on Intrepid and on Hardy too, I NEED to restart my PC to be able to use my new drivers. That is only the case if I install Nvidia drivers from the repos. If I install them from that .run script that we can download from Nvidia web site, I can just start gdm and X, and I can use new drivers without restarting my PC. So, I'm asking you to enable that again, or tell me how can I use new installed drivers without restarting my PC? Thanks. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-177 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- restart needed after Nvidia drivers are being installed/updated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/306258 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
