it is definitely related to this bug. If you can, please update the
title of this bug to version 1.3.3, since it's the latest.

I just updated to 9.04, and kino is now refusing to encode in MP4. It
seems the new version of ffmpeg is not working with the older version
that comes with 9.04.
Please update with new kino package.
