Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debian-installer
(Not sure I got the package right) I netbooted into the Ubuntu installer from the 7.10 ISO. Selected expert mode. When it comes to partitioning the disk, the results are inconsistent, depending on the order in which partitions are created. I have a single disk, which is a 2.5" 40 GB Fujitsu device. Scenario 1: - create new partition table on hda - create new primary partition at beginning of disk, of size 4 GB, with ext3 filesystem, mount as /boot - create new logical partition at end of disk, of size 0.6 GB, use as swap - create new primary partition of size max, with ext3 filesystem, mount as / The above creates partitions 1, 5 and 3. I think that this is incorrect: it should create partitions 1, 5 and 2. Scenario 2: If I create the partitions in the order in which they will appear on the disk then it works OK: - create new partition table on hda - create new primary partition at beginning of disk, of size 4 GB, with ext3 filesystem, mount as /boot - create new primary partition of size 35.4 GB, with ext3 filesystem, mount as / - create new logical partition at end of disk, of size max, use as swap This creates partitions 1, 5 and 2. ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- installer skips primary partition https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
