Binary package hint: openssl

Using Ubuntu 8.10, and creating a USB startup disk (from system menu)
the system rebooted fine on an HP (Compaq) 6510b using a 2GB flash
drive.   An update was initiated to the system which resulted in errors.
It appears that the security updates were not successful.
