I solved the problem , It's nothing to do with OOo its the graphics driver .
I'm now using the one from ATI instead of the open source one and it solved
many problems like these crashings and also the suspend function

So this document causes Impress (OpenOffice.org Presentation) to crash
as soon as it loads? Are you running KDE? If so does setting
'Tools-Options-OpenOffice.org-General-Use OpenOffice.org dialogs'
resolve this problem for you? If so this bug will probably be fixed with
the next upload sometime

yes it crashes before even opening such files. I am using mint and Genome
and still I tried to set use openoffice.org dialogs but it didn't help at
all. Somewhere I read it's something to do with the video driver? I have a
lenovo T60 so a ATI driver

I haven't seen any other reports of this issue and it opens the document
fine for me using the same version of Ubuntu OpenOffice.org packages. So
I have no idea what is causing the problem for you. If you come across
any further information pertaining to this bug please include it in this
bug
