Sounds like I had the same problem on my Asus EEETop 1602.
It looks like I could solve the problem by disabling the
framebuffercompression in xorg.conf - see bug # 305227 for full details.

happening there, too? In your last post you only mentions Xubutnu. Do
you have another monitor to try and see if it is a monitor issue? Or
another computer you can plug that monitor into?

I am using Xubuntu 8.10. It is does not turn off after a particular event.
It usually happens when I am using it. Someone said that they found a patch
that fixed it, but I don't know what it is so I didn't try it. Do you think
that you can help me find something?
