Should be fixed now. This was being caused by an Xv patch for another
bug, which now is solved a different way.

Same problem here. I have a different last messages in my
Xorg.2[01].log files:

Using intrepid 32bit, with latest updates.
When I try to switch user, or start a guest session, screen locks, but
nothing else happens, and I am just stuck at the locked screen. I unlock
it and see a cannot start new display error.

Thank you for your bug report. It is not obvious from the information
you've provided why the second session fails to start. Could you please
try switching user, and then attaching your /var/log/Xorg.20.log and
/var/log/Xorg.20.log.old files if you have them?
