yes, this is most likely because the command line is too long.
the bug is known and has been fixed in Hugin, as well as in Autopano-
SIFT-C v2.5.1 which can be downloaded at [0]. I don't think anybody
will fix it in autopano-sift.

Hugin crashes with Segfault when manual triggering automatic creation of
control points

I upgraded to jaunty, problem stays the same.
I experimented a bit myself, and I came upon something interesting I think:
If I open in hugin 124 or more images, it gives me the messsage Could not
execute command: autopano-complete
If I open in hugin 123 images, it crashes, I reported a new bug
Correction: filenames are img_2579.jpg ... img_2725.jpg
everything stays just the same if I rename files and strip the prefix
img_2, so all files are named 579.jpg ... 725.jpg. I just thought
it could have been something about a parameter list that's too long.

Hi,

Hi,
Can you make a test with the version in my PPA? I backported the version
that will be released with Jaunty, and fix a lot of problems. You can
find it at https://launchpad.net/~fabricesp/+archive/ppa and install it
by adding this repository: deb
