Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libpulse0
DESCRIPTION: My appologies if this is under the wrong package, but I took an uneducated guess... :) Anyway, on installing Kubuntu Jaunty (AMD64) I had no sound at all. A quick bit of research and troubleshooting revealed that it was just that the snd-usb-audio ; snd-pcm-oss ; snd-mixer-oss ; snd-seq-oss modules needed modprobing at boot. When I added these to /etc/modules sound now works perfectly in all the KDE apps I tested (amarok, dragonplayer, system notifactions) but there is no sound at all on the tested Gnome apps (Firefox, VLC). SYSTEM DETAILS: My soundcard is an external USB Roland Edirol M100FX (http://alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Module-usb-audio). Aplay -l shows: card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: ALC1200 Analog [ALC1200 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 1: ALC1200 Digital [ALC1200 Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: M100FX [EDIROL M-100FX], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 2: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: ATI HDMI [ATI HDMI] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 It shows up in lsusb as: Bus 003 Device 002: ID 0582:0046 Roland Corp. My system is Kubuntu Jaunty 9.04 - AMD64. It's updated daily. ** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Sound works perfectly in KDE apps, but no sound in Gnome apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331706 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
