Public bug reported: Ubuntu release: 8.10
Update status: all Important and Recommended updates as of 2009-02-21 17:50 UTC Bug summary: When I plug a CF card in a CF-to-USB adapter into any USB port, no new drive icon appears on the desktop and no dialog or window pops up. The CF card is a 1GB ByteStor Hi-Speed CompactFlash. The adapter is unbranded. I expect the card to auto-mount like all the other USB flash drives I use. Things I tried: I rebooted the computer into Windows XP and plugged in the same CF card and adapter. Windows recognized the card and opened an Explorer window showing the files on it. Back in Ubuntu, I tried plugging in two other USB mass storage devices: a pen drive, and an SD card in an SD-to-USB adapter. Both were recognized by Ubuntu: a drive icon appeared on the desktop and a dialog or window popped up. I checked the dmesg output after plugging in the CF card. However, gparted shows only the fixed drive on sda. There is no mention of any sdb. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- CompactFlash on USB adapter doesn't mount https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332610 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
