amd64 and i386 and tested for a while. Seems to work so debdiff
attached.

I can confirm that the problem went away when you deselect spell-
checking.
So the workaround is the following:
General - Options - Misc - Remove check spelling flag.

I can confirm that psi package version 0.12-2 from universe repo has
this bug that when you try to write text in chat window psi freezes,
but in send message window doesn't freeze. When app is freezing, psi
does not output any error message in console. The 0.13-svn~maarten5

As a workaround, I have installed psi 0.13beta from this PPA:
