I have noticed, and seen reports of, some major problems with this new
driver. Perhaps we should wait for the next release before upgrading.

I have this working OK from the nvidia installer with the latest
updates.
Including today's HAL update.
Can anyone narrow down exactly what symptoms are presenting?

There is some VDPAU bugs that NVIDIA have fixed for the next release.
There is some user error with not fully removing old drivers and
manually installing the 180.35 driver.
