I second this. By now you need to use a grub-gfxboot package from another distribution when you want to use grub-gfxboot. This leads to problems when updating the kernel because Ubuntu uses another syntax in the /boot/grub/menu.lst than the distributions from which you can take the grub-gfxboot pac
