I've verified that this problem is not related to evolution at all.
It is an OWA bug! Same problem accessing my web mail!
So you can close this bug, Exchange is the real culprit here.

Hello Sebastien,
I' using an exchange account.
When I click on the email, for a fraction of a second I can see the
following message appear in the main windows:
Unable to retrieve message
Message has been deleted
I've checked my .xession-errors but no log entry is done when the problem

thank you for your bug report, what account type do you use (imap, pop,
etc)? do you get any warning on the command line when getting the issue?
do you get the issue with all the emails using that char? do you know if
there is an upstream bug about the issue somewhere?
