I marked this bug as invalid because as described above, the dm-mod
module is in the kernel now, in Jaunty, Lucid, etc. The instructions
from the past on doing a modprobe are out-of-date.
** Changed in: lvm2 (Ubuntu)
Status: New = Invalid

You received this bug notification because
[http://whatislinux.net/tag/ubuntu]
Load the LVM module - modprobe dm-mod. You can skip this step in Jaunty (9.04)
because the dm-mod module is compiled into the kernel.
I were mistakenly trying
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sdaX pvcrypt04X
mlockall failed: Cannot allocate memory
Same problem with 9.04 live system.

The described bug is also in the 9.04 64bit-Release.
I downloaded the release Ubuntu-Desktop-64bit-LiveCD yesterday and ran it.
sudo apt-get install lvm2 worked, but sudo modprobe dm-mod failed with
FATAL: Module dm_mod not found..
I also tried to first apt-get update apt-get upgrade, but it
# grep CONFIG_BLK_DEV_DM /boot/config-2.6.28-11-generic
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_DM=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_DM_BBR=m
It is in the kernel now. But I still can't access my lvm. This bug appeared
after upgrading to
linux-image-generic 2.6.28.11.14. On jaunty release.
