Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

There are four parts to this bug, part 1 is against HAL, part 2 is a
kernel bug and Parts 3 & 4 are Gnome Config Key mapping/layout issues:

1. FN + F4, F6, F7 symbolic names are mapped in input.h to above 255
they are:

FN + F4 0x1ae KEY_MESSENGER
FN + F6 0x1a3 KEY_ZOOMOUT
FN + F7 0x1a2 KEY_ZOOMIN

2. FN + F5 and F8 are not being recognised at all by input-event or acpi_listen

FN + F5 should default to document flip (windows term) - this is different to
alt + tab, it is where all open documents appear in a smaller resolution one
behind the other so you can see what is open and holding down the FN key and
pressing F5 repeatedly scrolls through them until you have the one you want

FN + F8 should be to display desktop gadgets in windows this is
equivalent to the windows sidebar so i guess it would be gnome gadgets
as the equivalent in gdm?

3. The key mappings are not working for play/pause, prev track and next track
keys below:

FN + F10 keycode 173 = (keysym 0x1008ff16, XF86AudioPrev), state
= 0x10
Correct key but mapping only works in Rhythmbox not any
other media player listed below?
                        Should be previous track/playlist item
                        Tested with (VLC/Amarok/Audacity/Movie
Player/MPlayer/MythTV/Xine)

FN + F11 keycode 172 = (keysym 0x1008ff14, XF86AudioPlay), state
= 0x10
Correct key but mapping only works in Rhythmbox not any
other media player listed below?
                        Should be Play/Pause
                        Tested with (VLC/Amarok/Audacity/Movie
Player/MPlayer/MythTV/Xine)

FN + F12 keycode 171 = (keysym 0x1008ff17, XF86AudioNext), state
= 0x10
Correct key but mapping only works in Rhythmbox not any
other media player listed below?
Should be Next Track/Next playlist item
                        Tested with (VLC/Amarok/Audacity/Movie
Player/MPlayer/MythTV/Xine)

4. This is the default settings for the keyboard. Even though under the
keyboard settings I have selected the Logitech DiNovo Keyboard the keys are not
mapped properly by default.

* There is no numlock on this keyboard and the numpad keys are set as arrows
by default. The only way I got it working was to bring up the virtual keyboard
and turn on numlock there. That seemed to stay on after a reboot
* FN + F1 key is defaulting to opening up the default file browser instead of
the default webpage. Manually changed the WWW shortcut to XF86HomePage key
* FN + F3 key is bringing up Track Search Tool - no idea how to change this to
bring up either file search or web browser search page?
* F4 to F8 aren't working as per above part 1 and 2

That's the lot I really look forward to getting some help with this

Regards,
Peter
