Nothing changed and /sys/class/backlight is still empty.

Brightness control doesn't work on Amilo mini UI 3520
Hi Janis, thanks for the report. I examined your ACPI dump and
unfortunately your BIOS contains no methods for modifying brightness at
all. :( Your only hope would be requesting a linux driver from the
manufacturer.
Requesting Won't Fix status for this bug.

Also here is the Windows application for using the keys, prepackaged by
Fujitsu Siemens. I don't know if this can help somehow, but it might
come in handy. :)

Thanks, Janis. The issue here is either that the laptop has a
proprietary backlight control or the BIOS is slightly broken.
Just in case, can you try running the current mainline kernel from the
instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds?
This is just to ensure the

Janis: Thanks.
So in both the working and non-working case, the kernel has no control
over the backlight. I guess you have some sort of hardware difference
then, mad_man.
Could someone for whom it /does not/ work (not you mad_man), please run
apport-collect 363326 to attach debugging information
here is my cmdline:
$ cat /proc/cmdline

Unfortunately, the upstream bug report says that the Amilo 3520 doesn't

Well probably.. but it's not a uge problem, since the keys are visible by it...
the bigger problem is that you can't set it up through xbacklight or even

Hello again,
Doing some research [1, 2], I found that Amilo laptops do not actually
pass events through X and ACPI. Unfortunately, upstream has already
determined that this won't be fixed. I'm linking the upstream bug in
case something else comes up again. Thank you for the report and please
