Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
** Changed in: grub
Actually, the unplug/replug of the USB keyboard trick never seemed to
work for me anyway. On some occasions it was possible to hold down a key
to make the keyboard responsive at the Grub menu - but it mostly didn't
work.

grub (installer too) doesn't work with apple usb-keyboard on a pc-system
This issue seemed to be fixed by the wave of Firmware updates in
November, but it is now broken again and the previous method of
replugging the usb keyboard no longer works either.

well it seems worse for me now. I don't think it has worked once since
it broke again, and the USB trick worked EVERY time for me previously.
It may be related to installing Leopard, as it seems so far that those
of us that are seeing the regression have installed Leopard.
I also noticed that
the issue with the intel mac keyboards is actually a apple firmware
bug...

I'm getting the same problem trying to install Gutsy tribe 1.
I'm using an Intel iMac in UK. The thread here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=499387
suggests the following workaround:
If you unplug and replug a USB keyboard on the selection screen it should
start working

This happens to me on my PC with my Logitech Cordless Desktop S510 usb
keyboard. Using the included legacy PS/2 dongle works fine, but won't
help people with newer motherboards that won't have PS2 ports.

I had this problem, and setting the legacy option in the bios indeed
solved the problem for me (Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard) - running
6.06.1 daily from 20060806.1
