This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

Had the same issue with a DFI Infinity Ultra-II. Updated to the most recent
BIOS dated 2008-02-12 using the CD-ROM method in the forums HOWTO. Still got a
kernel panic until I went into the BIOS and did a "Load Safe Settings".
Following successful boot, I went back into the BIOS and re-enabled
I may have the solution to this issue
Disable the legacy bios setting "memory hole 15 to 16Mb"
For some reason my new ASUS P5QC had it enabled. I could not boot the
2.6.28-15-generic kernel on a Ubuntu system just upgraded from 8.04LTS
> 8.10 > 9.04

Just a note.. had to enable USB support on motherboard for the mouse
and keyboard. Now everything works.

Hi!! Glad you guys were working on this. I tried to use Update Manager, and

Mmm.. Have a problem with mine as well. I'm getting the Kernel Panic
issue, with the motherboard MSI 945p Neo3. I have cleared my CMOS with
no luck. I will update if I find any way to fix it.

Also affects ECS EVEm v1.1 motherboard with PhoenixBIOS. Failed a BIOS
upgrade. Will try recovery procedures, and advise whether the upgrade
solved the problem.
