I can't find any file containing grub in all of these directories
('/bin', '/sbin', '/usr/bin', '/usr/sbin').
About grub : I have installed gfxgrub (and theme) and deleted some items
of the boot menu from the file /boot/grub/menu.lst before updating to
Jaunty.

Hm it was not gfxgrub but gfxboot indeed. I have uninstalled it, then
installed back grub and ... it seems all works fine now :)
So, gfxboot disallow system upgrades (kernel upgrades, is it right ?) ?

The issue is that update-grub could not be found? Is it indeed missing?

Sorry, but I don't understand what I have to do or try. And I have many
difficulties to understand how launchpad works and how works this bug
report system.
I think the problem still on my ubuntu because when I try to use apt-get
or Synaptic I have the following message (with compiz for example)

to reinstall. ( arch i386 linux 2.6.28.11.15 )
the only pb I know is the compatibility wiht the graphic card intel 845.

It work afert a total supression of all pakages linux 2.6.28 and a
réinstall by the pakage linux.
It may comme from a disk pb, but after a disk chek by using a live CD
(and a réparation of errors found) the problem stell présent. I don't
know more.
