Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pm-utils

When I close the lid with the cable unplugged, the laptop never makes it
to suspend - power led stays on. Screen remains blank with a blinking
cursor in the top left corner. Caps lock still works - at least until I
press alt-f7, after that the laptop stops responding to anything.

Also tested:
sudo pm - suspend from X and VT1 - crashes in the same manner
Fn+F3 from KDE - suspend works, but after restore the network management
plasmoid says that wlan0 is unmanaged and eth0 disappears completely
Fn+F3 from VT1 - works.
sudo /etc/acpi/sleep.sh from KDE - suspend and restore work perfectly, I only
need to reconnect to wlan0 after restore.
sudo /etc/acpi/sleep.sh from VT1 - suspend works correctly; after restore the
screen does not power up; alt+f7 + alt f1 restores the screen.

The above symptoms happen 100% of the time, so if there is any need for
additional testing, can do.

This is a Toshiba Satellite L40 laptop, Pentium Dual 64bit T2330
processor
