The problem was that I had my number of open connections preference in
Deluge set very high, higher than libtorrent could handle. It was
crashing presumably because it hadn't checked whether the files it was
opening were actually being opened, but it was

I took the time to get a backtrace, and it seems that libtorrent is
running into the ulimit for file descriptors. While it should probably
do something a bit more graceful than segfault, it can be worked around
by lowering the number of maximum allowed connections.
