It is a new project developing on mspgccs sourcecode. The difference to
normal mspgcc is that they take new gcc releases (4 and above).
A test compilation of their sourcecode returned no error.
I am going to build deb-pakages soon.

I have done some work on this and I have packages now at
https://launchpad.net/~adamhorden/+archive/msp430 that have been built
and alpha tested. These packages are built from either CVS sources or
SVN sources via a custom mirror system. Work still needs to be done but
I have working packages.
