Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
-> About Ubuntu.

Description: Ubuntu 9.04 (64-bit)
Release: 9.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
packagename' or by checking in Synaptic.

vlc:
  Installed: 0.9.9a-2ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.9.9a-2ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.9.9a-2ubuntu1 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/multiverse Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What you expected to happen

Pressing escape closes the Open File dialog box.

4) What happened instead

When running vlc, if i go to the Open File dialog and then click on
something (a file or a folder) and press escape the dialog blanks out
but does not close. If I then click cancel and go back in I have the
same blank dialog. I have to restart vlc to get the Open File dialog to
work properly again.

     Importance: Undecided
