This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

using 9.10 i can proudly claim the issue is solved. thanks to the new
mixer, a mic volume bar was added, and it's working much better. also,
if anyone experienced an issue with his mic while using Skype, just
remove the tick in the options

update: also, since i haven't mentioned, the mic is extremely LOW. very
annoying issue when recording, making video calls, and so forth.
