Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: athcool

My Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7va with a Via KT333 chipset with a Athlon MP
2200+ Processor(issued from a server).
UBUNTU Jaunty Jackalope 9.04, Filesytem: ext4
Both ATcool and FVcool won't work uner this config.
The same PC under windows (double boot) can implement SK2CTL without any
probleme and a reduction in iddle wattage from 100w to aprrox 72w. Under ubuntu
Jaunty wattage remains at around 100w (wattmeter)as athcool fails to start.

h...@hal-desktop:~$ sudo athcool on
athcool version 0.3.12 - control power-saving mode on AMD Athlon/Duron CPUs

enabling Athlon powersaving mode may cause:
 * noisy or distorted sound playback
 * a slowdown in harddisk performance
 * system locks or instability
