The attached patch would seem to fix things, at least as far as getting the url
to be recognized. It won't
make gnome-terminal make anything useful happen, though.

Confirming as well.
This is really annoying. I'm using sftp links on the terminal for work,
on a daily basis, and am therefore forced to use Konsole, which, of
course, has this feature working perfectly.
Please, give it a couple of minutes, it can't be that much of a fuzz.
