I've tried the latest Lucid build and that produces very similar
results. The main thing I notice about it is that it's using the nouveau
driver which is what I think is responsible for what I'm seeing.
Again, I ran the test in single user mode. It wasn't possible to remove
or disable the nouveau

I've got the same problem on a MSI Media Live
(http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=proddescprod_no=1113maincat_no=134cat2_no=636cat3_no=313)
that use the MS-7329 motherboard though I'm using 9.10. I've tried both
i386 and x86_64 versions and they both have the same results - it goes
into suspend fine
I found that pm_trace didn't show up anything because I was running a custom
live version and hadn't included the contents of /boot to save space.
I've done two tests:
1) using the Ubuntu i386 Live CD - 2.6.31-17
2) using a custom x86_64 version which has a later kernel - 2.6.31.19

I also have this problem (on MSI Media Live barebone machine, which uses
this motherboard). Have flashed BIOS (to 1.63), and still doesn't help.
After holding the power button down, on the next startup, the machine
fails to even POST, needing another restart. As of last night, the
