Before I tried comment #11 sound preference app never comes up. It is
waiting for to come up.
After trying comment #11, sound daemon is started, but it doesn't know
about any sound devices.
Here is the message in syslog repeated hundreds of time before I applied
#11.
pulseaudio[2789]:
I saw this on an upgrade from Koala to Lucid, manifest as high CPU usage for
dbus-daemon run by messagebus user.
#11 fixed it.

Same problem here after updating my ThinkPad T400 to lucid yesterday:

I noticed the same messages in my user.log. I don't have libacr*
installed.

After some more searching, I noticed:

Some one else reported that it seemed to be related to his kernel version -- he
was on 2.6.26 and the problem started when he went to 2.6.30. This maybe
unrelated,

After unistalling libacr38* message pulseaudio does not complain any more, and
mouse does not crash any more.
sudo apt-get remove libacr38*
Bug may be related to libacr38*
