Gets stuck while "Connecting".

For the last few days, I have not been able to connect to Yahoo! using
pidgin. Instead of starting, it hangs with the little status button at
the bottom reading "Available - Connecting". The little spinner is not
spinning.
If I run strace on it, it seems to be in an infinite loop (note that the
CPU is NOT 100%, like some previous Hardy bugs had mentioned).
The part of 'strace' that repeats, with a few seconds in between
