Later versions of Pidgin has already corrected this problem. Although it is not
directly Pidgin related but Yahoo!-related.
Fixed. Tested with the latest version 2.6.6 on an Ubuntu 9.10 machine.

The version of Pidgin you are currently running is not supported by the
Ubuntu release you are running (Ubuntu 8.10). The version of Pidgin
which is installed by default (2.5.2) is supported. Please try
reproducing this on that version.
