I have saved my od files before, but now all of a sudden I get a pop up
telling me that because of a general error, it cannot save my updates
to a backup file

Can you please attach an example document showing this issue? I can't
reproduce this problem with OOo 3.1.0 in the ppa and karmic.

Last update included the archive/ppa which did not resolve the issue

A chart on sheet2 does not update from data on sheet1. Chart also loses
formatting and data series when 'page previewed
