Binary package hint: gedit

I use gedit 2.24.2.

The use of the spell checker works fine in general, but if an
abbreviation comes along, it ignores the "dot" belonging to it and
recommends the abbr. with a "dot". This causes two "dot"s instead of
one.

e.g. (attention: its a german abbr.)

"Dr." is already correct, but spell checker claims it incorrect because it only 
recognises "Dr"
Then it recommends "Dr."
If you accept it, it results in "Dr.."
