Same for me: firefox 3.5 and thunderbird 2.0.0 show the same problem. [Kubuntu (Jaunty+some updates to Karmic) on two different machines] The size of the vertical offset is roughly the height of the window header (menu+toolbar) so there might be a connection. The problem has annoyed me for
