I suppose this is the same issue I'm having when searching for virt-
manager. It appears for 'v' disappears for 'vi', reappears for 'vir',
'virt' and 'virt-' yet disappears as of 'virt-m' including all further
letters.

I can confirm this issue in Karmic also.
To find all xkb packages, use 'Edit/Search...' write xkb and select 'Name' in
types of search.
