Just did a minimal install of the Lucid Lynx beta. Then installed gnome-core and gdm. I now get applet errors for fast-user-switch-applet (which is not installed) every time I boot. When I try to install it I get a message that it depends on gdm (which is already installed). Here's the

stevewin is right. I have assembled only the minimum set of packages enough to manage Ubuntu Karmic server on EC2. Small and medium-high-cpu EC2 AMIs have only 1.7G RAM. This makes it critical to have a desktop that consumes minimum amount of RAM. Also, bells and whistles greatly slow down VNC,
