Or the package could just ship and install (a) PNG icon(s) in addition
to the SVG one(s) -it's done by other packages, and wuold prevent adding
Just One More Useless Dependency.
By the way, am I alone in thinking the default IBUS icon stands in a
Gnome desktop like an elephant in a china shop?

I don't have full ubuntu desktop install. Only base+LXDE (without GDM) +
ibus. So python-rsvg is not included. Screen shot taken before
installing python-rsvg package attached below. The icon to the right of
cpu usage monitor is also invisible, but menu shows up after right
click.
