I can confirm this. And yeah, this happens also with mp3 files. I'm
running 32-bit 9.10 with all updates installed.

I am unable to reproduce this bug. I'e tried with the gconf setting on
and off and with FLAC with and without replaigain.

Playing
Turning the ReplayGain feature off (using gconf-editor) makes the volume
slider behave normally again (immediately!). It stays at 0 until you
move it though.
