Binary package hint: transmission

I open a torrent for 26 or so files and make some changes to the
download/priority options.  I then click the Priority or Download column
to sort the list several times.  At this point Transmission gets very
very slow and unresponsive as the individual files move through the
list, one at a time, taking about a second each.

Something is clearly being done inefficiently here.  It might matter
that these are individually fairly large files - an entire season of
television shows.
