OpenOffice and Evolution are bookmarked applications. In 10.04 (I don't
know about other releases) you can change what applications are pinned
there. The other windows are the list of running ones, with more than
one blue patch indicating more than one window.

That works not quite correctly, but maybe a bug from Evolution.
In Gnome-Shell menu Evolution starter is shown, but unlike with other
applications (Firefox, Pidgin, etc) Evolution is not shown as running
with a blue dimmer around the name, but a second icon is shown for the
running evolution
Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would
be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people

For me this bug has been solved. Gnome-shell now shows running
applications correctly.

I get the same issue here.
Is there something that needs to be triggered for Zeitgeist to pick up
on application usage? Or is this a total tangent?
