Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio
When I reduce sound volume it does not fade till it reach zero, as you should expect. Instead of that, when you reach certain value (usually 15%, but it depends on headphone and PCM sound values) sound is completely muted. With headphones you can appreciate better if the problem is there. Steps to reproduce the issue: 1. Play a sound. 2. Reduce sound volume to a low value different than zero. No matter if you use alsamixer or volume applet. My system is a Dell XPS 1330 with Ubuntu 9.10 amd64 beta and all updates until right now. 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02) Codec: SigmaTel STAC9228 P.S. I think this problem is related with pulseaudio package, but I am not 100% sure.
